I have read the user manual pdf, called wd tech support in India, they hung up on me after he didn't feel like helping I assume, and viewed youtube videos.

I really don't know how to get this up and running.

I have connected it properly with hdmi cable. I have connected it to a WAP and I see it in my network. in the wd tv live menu I test connection and all 3 tests pass fine. when I go to "File Management" then my PC it says wrong password or username. I am using the same username and password to my PC, is that correct? I also shared a folder on my computer properly, but can't see it in WD TV live.

when I click the WDTV icon in my network I get the following

Username and password is what you may set for your share.  If you haven't set a pass and username, then in your WDTV settings set it to connect automaticly.  It won't check for username and pass.

If it is windows 7 you may have some tweaks to do in the Win7 settings to allow the WDTV to connect correctly.
Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1

1.02.21 WDLXTV 0.5.1.4 (Beta)
Linksys - WUSB600N USB Adapter
DLink - Dir-655 Router
Atheros - AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
